How to use a chore chart so it actually sticks

Start with three chores, not nine

Blank rows are an invitation to overfill them. Three chores a child can finish beats nine they can't — you can always add a row next week.

Write it with them, not for them

Let your child pick at least one of the chores and write it in. The chart works because it's theirs, which is also why it's fill-in-by-hand rather than typed.

Put it where the chore happens

Fridge for kitchen jobs, bedroom door for tidying. A chart in the hallway gets walked past; a chart at the sink gets ticked.
